How Kittl and Placeit actually differ
Kittl sells capability. Its type engine, vintage tooling and effects are what the subscription buys, and the output is something you made. That has a cost beyond money: you have to be able to use it, and a bad designer with Kittl produces bad designs faster.
Placeit sells inventory. The catalogue is the product, and the skill required is choosing well rather than drawing well. That is a real advantage for a seller who is not a designer and does not intend to become one.
The consequence is what your listings look like next to your competitors'. Work made in Kittl is yours; nobody else has it. Absolutely horrible when things go wrong! They have 10 million active users and only 2 people active on CHAT SUPPORT. 30 min. wait for any help, and if you click on anything close the chat and you have to start over. Yes they email possible solutions, not knowing you have tried those already for over 1 week. Looking for another company to use that actually over some sort of SUPPORT... I pay $20 month for 1 year, with no problem and now can not upload and no help to be found.

Unreliable and often frustrating! Sometimes when I give it instructions to amend an AI image, it ignores them and reproduces the exact same image, repeatedly. Sometimes when I remix an existing AI image, it creates a totally different image with made up text. This wastes a lot of time and credits. The only positive is that when I asked for a pro-rata refund, they agreed!

Kittl works intermittently for me. While the service is great when it works, it often has difficulty generating imagery and videos consistently. It will spin for a while until it times out. I am a graphic designer, and my computer is fully equipped. They also admitted in writing that their engineering team is actively aware of this behavior. Even though customer service admitted they actively have issues with what I was complaining about, they would not refund me.

Generally a good experience using the site over the last few years, but so much difficulty cancelling now I want to end my monthly subscription. Tried to cancel for two weeks to no avail, even though I submitted a ticket for support about my issue over a week ago. So, to ensure that I'm not billed again next month, I accepted the 'free month' offer they share when you go through the cancellation process and then deactivated the automatic withdrawal on Paypal. Beware before signing up, because cancelling is not as easy as they make it seem.

Is Kittl or Placeit better for print on demand?
They suit different sellers. Kittl is better if you make your own artwork and want stronger type and vintage tooling. Placeit is better if you would rather pick from a catalogue than design anything.
Are Placeit designs unique to me?
No. Licensed assets are licensed to every other subscriber, so the same designs and scenes appear in other shops. That is the trade for not having to make them yourself.
Which is cheaper?
They are close enough that price should not decide it, and both bill monthly. What differs is what the money buys: capability in one case, inventory in the other.
Do I still make each listing image by hand?
With either, yes. Both stop once you have an image, so a title, a size chart or a logo is placed again per product. Custom Mockup Generator handles that repetition and does not care which of these produced the artwork.
Is Placeit hard to cancel?
