Shopify themes crop product images to fit the grid, and they do it without asking. A catalogue that is half square and half portrait gets letterboxed in places and cropped into in others, and both read as a mistake. Decide the ratio before you generate anything. Square is the safest default: it survives most themes and every social surface you will later repurpose it for.
